The Season for Giving
Family, friends, delicious food, egg nog, and beautiful decorations are just a few things that come to mind when thinking about the Holiday season. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this time of year is recognized as a time for happiness, togetherness and giving. People usually tend to be in better spirits knowing that family they haven’t seen in a while will been town to visit, they can catch up on quality time with loved ones, children are happy to be out of school for a couple of weeks and of course for those who participate in gift giving there is always that to look forward to as well.
However, for many this year the Holiday Season will be spent much differently than years past. Zoom parties, virtual gift exchanges and low-key gatherings with immediate family will have to suffice. Still, we can be grateful for these moments when we have the opportunity to enjoy the ones we love and care about.
Sadly, this time of year is not always filled with merry sentiments, as some are living without, whether it be food to put on the table, or a home to stay warm or both. Instead for these individuals this time of year is an added reminder of what they do not have.
For some, due to the pandemic this year might be their first time experiencing hardship. This is why it is important that in the spirit of giving we remember those in need especially during these difficult times. A little can go a long way, so a small donation of a non-perishable item or donating a toy to a children’s drive can make all the difference in someone’s life.
This year we have decided to give back to those in need by partnering with our local fire department, donating non-perishable food items that will be distributed to food drives in the community. We have placed a box in the BriteSpace reception area and encourage our members to donate what they can to a worthy cause that could help provide an individual or family with something to eat.
This year has undoubtedly been challenging but with Christmas around the corner and as we approach the New Year I encourage all of you to think about one good thing that has happened to you this year. It doesn’t matter how big or how small. Instead, what matters is how that thing or that moment made you feel for as Marcus Aurelius said “Each day provides its own gifts.”
With that being said we want to wish all of you a beautiful Holiday season filled with joy and happiness.
Merry Christmas X Happy Holidays X Happy Hanukkah X Happy Kwanzaa
Yours Truly,
BriteSpace Family
