Covid-19 hit the world like a storm and with force, paralyzing some of the best healthcare systems in the world, crippling our need for socialization and human interaction with stay-at-home orders and shutting thousands of businesses down temporarily and unfortunately permanently for others. With an end to the pandemic seeming still far away, large companies and small businesses have had to evaluate their ability to stay afloat during this global health crisis or discontinue operations for good. As a new and developing business, at BriteSpace we have had to do some evaluating as well. We have not even opened our doors yet and just as all the moving parts were finally in place and on track to get us to our grand opening, everything came to a screeching halt. We’ve had to reconsider whether a business like BriteSpace would be able to survive a world post-Covid-19. As we discussed various scenarios and possible issues that could arise it became clear that although this pandemic has caused a delay in our plans, that may be the only bad outcome for us coming out on the other side. Here’s why…

Covid-19 has forced the majority of companies particularly those that function in offices to find alternate ways for their employees to work if they want to keep their businesses running. As a result, in order to comply with stay-at-home orders the vast majority of the population that once worked in an office setting is now working from home. Even healthcare professionals that typically practice in clinics are now doing a significant portion of their appointments from home via phone or video calls, only going into the clinic to assess patients when clinically indicated.

The rise of this pandemic has changed the way we view work and how we work, arguably for the better. For businesses there is the realization that work still gets done if employees aren’t crammed into the office of a high-rise building, productivity is still optimal and if anything attendance has improved. For the individual worker, there is more time for sleep even if it’s only 30minutes because now, they don’t have to commute, they see their families more, there is the ability for more work-life balance and therefore overall more job satisfaction. Ultimately, what many of us have now that we were lacking before is balance. Work in our society tends to trump everything; kids, partners, friends and religious commitments but what adapting to this new normal has shown is that that doesn’t have to be the case at all. It has shown us there ARE other ways of working without feeling like a participant in the never-ending rat-race of life.

Mind you this is not to say that everybody just loves working from home and that it’s easy because it’s not. It can actually be quite distracting and unproductive if conditions aren’t ideal and this is where co-working spaces come in. Once the world reopens, many businesses will be functioning at some level of loss. In order to cut costs and recover what was lost during the height of the pandemic, continuing to encourage employees to work from home would be ideal as it significantly reduces operational costs associated with running an office.

If businesses are looking to restructure where and how their employees work, with the added option of not necessarily being at home, co-working spaces provide a practical option for them without any long-term commitments. It gives employees a space to work away from home should they choose to with all of the capabilities and functions that a traditional office has.

Aside from the business now that it is clear that we are more than capable of still getting down to business without sacrificing everything else in our lives, it is likely that many employees, especially those with young families will be looking for the companies they serve to provide more flexible options when it comes to where and how they work.

We still have a ways to go before things go back to any level of normal, but with growing talks of the economy reopening we a geared at ready to service the influx of members ready to return to work and adapt to their new normal. The last recession saw the development of some of the most prominent businesses today such as What’s App and Uber. At BriteSpace we look forward to providing services and workspace needed for the next startup to launch the next big thing!

The post Co-working Spaces in a Post Covid World first appeared on Coworking Office Space For Rent In Mississauga & Greater Toronto Area.

With the 2010’s now behind us, many are taking the time to reflect on what the last decade brought them and what they expect the next decade to look like. It’s safe to say that for most, acquiring or continuing success in various aspects of their lives tops the list. As budding entrepreneurs, aspirations and goals for the next decade have been heavy on our minds.

We are happy to say that we ended off the decade with news that we had successfully acquired a space for our business and are eager to share the next phase of our project with the public. As exciting as this all is, it definitely took us some time to figure out what avenue of entrepreneurship we wanted to venture into before we could even get to this milestone. We knew each other well before we became business partners. One of the things we had in common was that we both saw ourselves doing more than just what we were doing in our 9-5 careers. Entrepreneurship of some form and getting into business together was something we talked about many times but of course nothing happens before its time. Finally, we were both in a position to put in the work to not only start a business but start one that was successful and had room for growth and longevity. As we brain stormed ideas we kept coming back to the question of what makes a business successful? Many of the ideas we had initially were great but weren’t necessarily the right fit. They either didn’t provide us with the autonomy we were looking for as business owners, the upfront costs weren’t realistic for a startup or the opportunity for growth wasn’t foreseeable.

We took our time do our research and discussed what type of service we wanted to provide, how much time and money we were willing to invest and most importantly what we were expecting to get out of this venture both short term and long term. Since we both were interested in real estate we moved towards the idea of acquiring a space but taking it to the next level. This is when we came upon the idea to open a co-working space. Not only would we be starting a business ourselves, but we would also be providing a place for small business owners and entrepreneurs like ourselves, the space they need to come up with ideas and put them into motion. With the growth of small business ownership being what it is in Ontario, partnered with the high cost of rent both commercial and residential, we have the opportunity to provide people with an affordable place to carryout this business needs. A business with the purpose of serving and supporting other businesses. This is when we realized there wasn’t just one answer to our question. Instead there are multiple answers. What makes a good business is drive. It’s one thing to have an idea, it’s another thing to actually put those ideas down on paper and put them into motion.

Time, and a whole lot of it. Before we even knew what we wanted to do we committed the time to figuring it out. Once we made a final decision and got the ball rolling, we knew that we would both need to invest a significant amount of time in order to this happen.

You need to surround yourself with likeminded people. Whether starting a business on your own or with a partner there are multiple players involved along the way in the forefront and background that contribute to your success. The level of success greatly depends on everyone sharing the same goals and vision for the business.

Finally, whatever business you start needs to be desirable, something that people want and need. We weren’t the first to come up with the idea of a co-working space and we definitely won’t be the last. Because of this it is even more essential that we set ourselves apart from our competition and this goes for any business. Take the time…see there’s that word again, to study and analyze your competition; what are they offering and how can you top it. So far, we are right on track with where we expect to be and forward to moving into the development phase of our business and the Grand opening and sharing our journey. As you get a head start on the year and the decade keep in mind that

I sat down with the owners of BriteSpace offices to get a deeper understanding of the players behind the innovative new business coming to Mississauga, Ontario. Here is what they had to share!

M: Who are the creative geniuses behind BriteSpace Offices?

B: I’m Bilal El-Sheikh Ali. I have a background in real estate and aviation

D: I’m Dale Taylor and I have a background in aviation, I also run a small aviation staffing agency.

M: So I’m assuming aviation is how you two met?

D: Yes, we actually worked for the same airline back when we were both at the beginning of our careers…about 10 years ago now.

M: Oh wow that’s a long time! So what made you guys decide to join forces on this venture?

D: Honestly timing just never seemed to be right. We were both pursuing other goals both personal and in our careers. But it worked out because that put us in a better position to be able to take this new venture head on and put our all into it. Nothing happens before it’s time.

M: What made you decide to enter the world of entrepreneurship?

B: I have always welcomed new challenges and opportunity. As an entrepreneur you have to be open minded and willing to try new ideas. Of course the risk is always there but without risk there would be no reward. I have always thought that there is no greater feeling than to be able to take your dreams and make them a reality but now I realize that the real reward is being able to help others accomplish their dreams as well.

M: What helped you settle on the type of business you wanted to start?

B: It’s not a secret that the demand for office space is at an all time high. More and more millennials want to pursue their dreams of having their own start-up business or an office that they can call their own. As commercial real estate lease prices soar through the roof in the GTA, we were determined in providing these hard working and motivated individuals with affordable office space without the loss of luxury and style.

M: Tell us a bit about what your business is and what your offer?

B: Our business is not only a modern and sleek space with state of the art technology for entrepreneurs to work out of. We provide a community like feel. As a member you are able to meet other motivated and like minded individuals. We provide a place where individuals can network, meet new clients and create opportunity. BriteSpace Offices is a hub that can help your business grow to the next level and you will not be doing it on your own because we will be there along the way to assist you in any way possible.

M: You don’t have to give away all your secrets…but can you speak on some of the community resources you found useful in helping you meet your goals as new entrepreneurs?

B: Having a career in real estate, we have the knowledge of how important space and time are. Having a background in aviation we see first hand how quickly people are moving. The world is moving at a rapid pace and people desire convenience now more than ever. Networking and experience have assisted us in the development in BriteSpace Offices.

D: Networking events are also very helpful especially when first starting out. The region of Peel has various seminars and workshops for new small business owners that provide invaluable tips and information on how to start, run and grow a business.

M: Millennials have proven themselves to be a generation of go-getters and innovators much like yourselves. What advice do you have for those that are considering starting their own business?

B: Research, research and more research, but above all dedication! Know your business, your clients, your product and your competition. Invest a lot of time in researching your market. Study every possible venture that is providing the same services as your business model and see what they are doing right but also what they are doing wrong and how can you be better. Now dedication, this in my opinion is what separates a mediocre business and a successful enterprise. You can have all of the research in the world but if you are not 110% dedicated to your vision then the results will not be in your favour.

M: Have there been any obstacles you’ve experienced so far and how do you manage when the unforeseen occurs?

B: There are always challenges, sometimes big and sometimes small. The key to facing them head on is patience. The same challenges faced thus far, are the same ones that we hope to help our members with and that is scheduling and coordinating people and time. Working alone has its perks. Having the space to do it is even better. Having to bring everyone together to accomplish a task, in order to develop BriteSpace Offices was difficult at times but we understand that, which is why we also provide members with state of the art technology boardrooms to meet small or large groups if required.

M:Where do you see the future of BriteSpace offices headed?

B: We see BriteSpace as being nation wide and possibly world wide within the next few years. We want BriteSpace to be the first co-working centre entrepreneurs think of when seeking out new office space. But most of all, we see BriteSpace being recognized in the future by major entrepreneurs and businesses as being the hub that started their success story.

M:What do you think will set you apart from your competitors?

B: We do not wish to be simply a leasing company like many of the already existing co-working spaces out there. At BriteSpace we provide some of the most elegant and modern offices available but our main focus is the success of our members. We at BriteSpace Offices will assist our members along the way from helping them manage their busy schedule by providing secretarial services to helping them meet the right individuals at our quarterly networking events. BriteSpace Offices coordinates in-house events with guest speakers such as life coaches, bankers, successful entrepreneurs, local artist and many more. We also provide the opportunity for our members to volunteer and be the guest speakers to introduce their business to our community. BriteSpace also provides a monthly newsletter that allows our members to advertise their business. At BriteSpace Offices we are dedicated in helping your business grow.

M: How can prospective clients stay engaged and up-to-date with progress and especially the grand opening?

B: We encourage everyone to follow us on social media and subscribe to our monthly newsletters for construction status and updates. Feel free to reach out to us by phone, email or website to hear all about our incentives and discounts for early membership registration.

M: What can we expect to see/experience at the grand opening?

B: We hope you can join us for some drinks and hors d’oeuvres at our ribbon cutting ceremony and have a chance to check out the new facility. There will be music and photography. So come join us for a friendly meet and greet and have a quick tour of the first BriteSpace Offices. We know you’re gonna fall in love!

Well, there you have it, BriteSpace Offices at a glance. With the number of small business in Ontario steadily increasing, BriteSpace Offices will surely been an asset to the community of Mississauga not only as a business but as a business supporting other businesses . We look forward to their grand opening and catching up with them then as they debut their new space to the City of Mississauga!
